Canadians are known to be a humble bunch, but we’re not shy about showing our national pride on July 1! Here on the North Shore there are no shortage of ways to say “Happy Birthday” to our home and native land. Here are a few.

North Shore Canada Day Parade

The North Shore Canada Day Parade is a highlight for families in the area, and those in other parts of the Lower Mainland who flock here for the fun. This year, the parade will once again feature beautifully decorated and constructed floats and displays from local organizations and businesses.

Before the event kicks off, the North Shore Lions Athletic Club will be hosting their popular pancake breakfast on Grand Boulevard. Post-parade, attendees will be treated to a special barbecue sponsored by the North Vancouver Royal Canadian Legion on 15th Street. See you there!

North Vancouver Canada Day Celebration 2019

After the parade, head over to Waterfront Park for the annual North Vancouver Canada Day Celebration 2019 festivities which takes place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Here, there are plenty of on-site activities that make this a one-stop party for Canadians of all ages. Let the kids jump around in the bouncy castle while parents enjoy the roving performers as they make their way around the fair grounds. Hang out at the main stage to enjoy musical performances from groups including Souled Out and Lions Gate Chorus.

In past years, massive Nylon Zoos wowed children and adults alike. Who knows what you will find on the shores of Waterfront Park this year?

Take a Hike

What better way to celebrate Canada than by spending some quality time in our nation’s natural environment? Those who love the outdoors can take advantage of the myriad hikes on the North Shore, many boasting spectacular viewpoints. Some of the family-friendly walks and hikes in the area include those at Lynn Canyon Park, Rice Lake, Whyte Lake and Lighthouse Park.

Whether you choose to head out for a hike or join the festivities on the North Shore, the shops at Lynn Valley Centre have everything you need for your Canada Day celebrations. Happy Canada Day!
